WBR Little Cottonwood Canyon Interagency Training

Slick...that is the general consensus of the WBR Interagency training in Little Cottonwood Canyon on Friday, December 17, 2010.  The Interagency training was designed to facilitate the seamless interface of the several WBR affiliated agencies that operate as an cohesive team in the Wasatch Mountains of northern Utah.

Attending the training was teams from University of Utah AirMed, IHC's LifeFlight, Snowbird Ski Patrol, Alta Ski Patrol, Unified Police Department's Canyon Patrol, Unified Fire Department, Wasatch Powderbirds, Utah Department of Transportation, Alta Marshall's office, and the Snowbird Clinic Patient Transport.  Each team explained their role within a coordinated in-resort or back country call out and how they interface with other organizations in a safe, speedy and effective rescue.

The training cumulated in a simulated avalanche rescue.  AirMed demonstrated transceiver location from the air with their long range receiver (LRR); Snowbird Ski Patrol members located and extricated the victim then stabilized and packaged the patient per back country rescue protocol, and LifeFlight transported the victim off the scene utilizing their winch rescue system.
